How to read the figures
Movement and population are related, but they are not the same measure.
The national mobility figures describe people age 1 and older who reported living at a different residence one year earlier. The Colorado and Boulder figures are population estimates for July 1, 2025, compared with the Census Bureau’s April 1, 2020 estimate base.
Population changes can reflect births, deaths and migration. They do not show how many households hired movers or where a particular move began or ended.
